Road Rage Disorder? asks Eric Peters. Intermittent Explosive Disorder? asks SB. Sounds a bit like an excuse to up everyone's Prozac-like persricption to a massive dose. Healthy people, who know when they are threatened by: A) an H2 barely missing on removal of the front quarter panel of one's, say, Nissan Sentra; B) a belligerent drunk with a pool que; or C) the boiler of stress that is the modern world of increasing everything but our salaries; or D) being condescended to by your boss for her/his own ego-boost --- are very likely to pop off from time to time. It's not the best form of release, but that's what it is.
Life can be irritating. People get annoyed. People express annoyance. Sometimes dangerously.
I'm with Eric on this. Sing in the car. Save getting mad for when you're actually threatened. Do not take more antidepressants. Getting pissed off sometimes is NORMAL. Getting pissed off all the time at very small things is bad for you and those you love. Getting pissed off and creating a situation that endangers you or others is out of bounds, so get some therapy and exercise and take on the irritating issue directly.
When someone cuts you off from your exit, or you are careening across three lanes of traffic to get to your exit and thus endangering the lives of at least ten other people on the road ---- REMEMBER that 90% of the Streets Are Connected To Each Other. You can take the next exit and still get there. Amazing how city planners design the streets that way.
