Race/Gender Politics Now

Well educated voters are as confounding for the press as for the politicians. MS and the Feminist Majority keep busting on the press on the sexism and racism of their coverage, pundits keeps saying that people are voting on race and gender lines. And sometimes, that's the case. And maybe 5 people are worried about necklines, or middle names. But all of that is tired compared to the really interesting historical event that's going on here, to which our press is not living up. Can't quite get out of the old race and gender narratives. Can't quite grasp that the fine distinctions between the Democratic candidates actually matter to us.

And then there are your voters who know the issues, know the game, and can't be outflanked by reporters. Derrick, my friends; my friends, Derrick. Y'all watch this young man give this reporter what for, and then watch his response to the whole thing, also linked at Think on These Things. Yep, y'all will need new stories to tell if you're going to keep up with him and those of us who actually Think about policy before we go vote.

Bravo, Derrick, for having the kind of game we all should have. Well done. Well done, indeed.
