I know, a tall order for a small town. And yet! Cool Stuff : The Historic Edwardsville Merchant Society. When I'm the Managing Director for the EAC, these are some of the local merchant's I'm tapping and supporting. Also, Bead It, where you make pretty things. And the Art East Festival -- which means you Texans and my Northern Cousins should arrange to visit.
Now, on to more serious matters like Saving Our Democracy. Are you tired of living under the Ignor-ance of the Constitution as recently evidenced? Do you miss the recently redacted passages of the Bill of Rights? Would you like your country back? Well, then, you had better get hip to the Law and It's History, cats. Right here in Eville city.
Mine is a county seat, and in Illinois, so one of the major industries round these parts is The Law. Can't swing a bat without hitting a lawyer. Which is not all bad. One of our own, Tad Anderson, has started ELL Clubs , and wants to expand nationally. My politico friends, perk up your eyes now. ELL clubs (stands for Earn it by Learning it or Lose it -- the Constitution that is) study the Constitution, in toto, as well as Supreme Court decisions. Not a class or salon on morality or policy, but on the law.
The goal, they say, is knowledge not spin. A serious effort make sure Democracy works by working through an educated citizenry. Blessings on Tad, and on US.
And now, back to making pie and maybe packing for Texas. Things come up, kids, things come up.
