Double Whammy

For reasons that ellude me, allude me, JP has seen fit to put my name on the cover of the most recent number of Common Knowledge. For which, much gratitude!

L in Holland tells me that my diss is logged on "the main Buddhist site in Korea"! Wowzers. I was just telling him that I find that a little alienating, in a good way: there's some part of me out there in the world, in A World that I can't access, not being a reader of Korean. Still, many thanks there Buddhapia.com. And my apologies for the miserable quality of the editing. I hope your readers are not too confused by the computer-generated and editorial gaff of the "self-subject" and "other-subject" that shows up in places where it shouldn't -- like quotations from Irigaray herself. Those two phrases are mine, and I became a little desperate in my use of the Find/Replace function. My apologies.

The title in direct translation by Google is "Hour crane of two branch existence: Irigaray ethical subject record differences, and Yves Bonnefoy and Jorie Graham husband's houses" -- which I really like. Especially the "A Poetics" translating to "Hour Crane". Also "two branch existence" for "being two". And "Jorie Graham husband's houses" pretty well cracks me up. That's lovely.

Ratification, folks, the ratification of our humanity, of our being in history, this is something everyone desires. Most of our conflicts, it seems to be, have their source in someone's refusal to ratify the existence of an-other.
