Our summer festival is only ten days away!!!! Everyone on the board, including our new members, Heather Wood and Maya White, is running around town seeking poster space, mailing brochures to friends, and generally drumming up our audience.
Should you want to join our newsletter list, simply visit our website. In the middle of the homepage, you'll find a space marked "sign up for our newsletter" where you can enter your email address. Sorry the site still has a bunch of old information it, but our web manager went totally AWOL (is there some state less than totally AWOL?, hmm). We're working to fix this stich', get the site back on track and completely completed.
So, for a web presence and the summer fest, for now, it's pretty much all me. I'll be finding ways to mention the festival in every post for a while. Please, I hope you're googling us!
I want to thank, promote, applaud, and take out for a good glass of bourbon Jerome Weeks of the Dallas Morning News. He's made sure to place several articles in The Guide and the DMN in recent days, about the festival, and an interview with our own Ben Fountain whose first collection of short stories comes out in August.
Big love too, to Brian Wooley (best journalist in Texas, fantastic writer!) for his article on Ben Fountain's collection. Read it here.
Information about Ben's reading, and your chance to buy a book and get Barnes and Noble to give WordSpace some of the profit is included in the link below with the schedule of events. You can also pre-order the book at Amazon, and then buy something else at B&N that night. The man is amazing, read his book.
While you're at it, order David Searcy's books too. They do not disappoint! Wonderfully smart, elegant fiction like you will not read anywhere else. In fact, google our board members, read our stuff, we're everywhere!
See you at the Undermain in August!
