I gave up TV. Months ago. Yes, I know, it's an election year. But w/o TV, I no longer fear that I have unacceptable arm hair, or that my detergent is behind the trends, or that my neighbor and crush might work for the mob, or that I might need medication for non-medical conditions, or that I will suddenly find myself in an exotic location trying screw-over eight total strangers I might otherwise like knowing, or that I might be forced to eat something creepy for a mere (and completely too small sum) of 50 grand.
But, this means I listen to the radio more. (And read more, which is wonderful.) Which means I listen to NPR maybe more than I did.
The news hurts.
So, I subscribed to XM Radio (really just in place of TV, because I like music more), and I've discovered that if I listen to the news with some kickin' cool swing or be-bop in the background, which one can do listening to two radios simultaneously, the news doesn't hurt quite so much.
I recommend this balancing action to all who wish to be well-informed and happy at the same time.
