CoL X: Fire That Ft. Worth Teacher Right Now!!!!

I know this is microcosmic for the CoL entries, but it's linked very clearly to the overall point/s of my Culture of Life posts. The story is not linked on the DMN site, but a Ft. Wort teacher is reported in the print version to have crossed an unforgivable line in the wake of the May 1 Day of Action by Hispanics in Texas and the rest of the country....According to the article today by Toya Lynn Stewart, the fifth-grade teacher "called the students derogatory names, including the one that refers to those who crossed the border illegally." She called them wetbacks. That's how ugly this woman's soul is. She made the children "who missed school sit outside in the sun and read for two hours without water or bathroom breaks." One girl in the class had stayed home to finish a big project, due that Wednesday, returned to school on Tuesday, and was told by the teacher that she would recieve a zero for the project because she's Hispanic, and she missed school May 1. Students were sunburned, some developed nosebleeds while out in the sun (from the stress and fear most likely).

The district will not confirm the status of the teacher, suspended, suspended with pay, or what.

People, this is a clear civil rights violation for which she should be sued for damages, an obvious punnishment of the students for holding political views other than the teacher's, and an obscene abuse of her power, and so wreakingly racist that I'm not sure what to say except this: FIRE THAT WOMAN NOW. This was abuse. Mass abuse. Fire her. Today. Revoke her teaching certificate, and kick her the hell out of the profession Forever.

If there's one thing that jerks my chain more than hegemonic patriarchy and its attendant fuckwitishness and Culture of Death, it's patriarchal women who reproduce the oppression and abuses of that paradigm. Get rid of her. Let her mow lawns, and roof houses, and build our roads, and work dangerous day-labor jobs with no health insurance, and work to rebuild the Gulf Coast after Katrina while living in 18-wheeler trailors converted into bunks for low pay and with no health insurance, and stand all day asking "would you like fries with that," and pick strawberries in the South Texas summers, and be a nanny to some rich woman's kids, and try to survive in the underground of illegal labor without which this country could not enjoy the standard of living it does. That's what lots of immigrants do, legal, and illegal. And you bet your sweet butt she's one of those Americans who does not want one of those jobs. Mother of God! How do people like this get near our children?
